In 1988, like many Utopia artists, commenced painting on canvas with acrylic paints alongside her sister Kathleen and he Aunt, the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye.
During the 1990s Violet produced a series of paintings which focuses on body paint deigns. These extraordinary paintings reveal a minimalist approach to the iconography of her stories and during this period she was exploring a truly abstract form of expression. Today, Violet remains experimental through her designs and choice of colour.
